trampire

so, this whole drama with k-stew and r-patz(yes, i enjoy calling them by those names. i imagine they both hate it) has inspired me to blog once more. hurrah!
basically, its been a few weeks now since this all came out. i have had time to truly digest what has happened, and watched the world react with much interest.

i would like to explain my complex opinion on this whole story. its not as straight-forward as you might think. it should be straight-forward, because quite frankly i can't stand kristen stewart. i think her acting is just atrocious and so boring. i think she can't even do a moody facial expression well(she should take some tips from victoria beckham. there's a way to make it hot) and i hate her whole 'its all about the craft' wanky attitude. i have felt this way for a long time and it has nothing to do with this whole 'scandal'.

above: k-stew's annoying awkward hair thing she does is very annoying. below: rob=loveable

i also love rob pattinson. he has a light-hearted manner in interviews that i find endearing. while he seems to have a similar attitude towards fame to stewart, rather than being moody about it, he just seems to find it all quite funny. he has said himself in interviews that he just finds the whole fandemonium thing surrounding him quite bizarre. he laughs about it. he has a more down-to-earth way of voicing the way fame has changed him and how it makes him feel. not like miss-moody awkwardly looking at the ground, fumbling her words, fiddling with her hair and generally being angsty. oh, and r-patz is dreamy. that's helps with the whole like-ability thing. indeed.

so when a r-patz obsessed friend told me of the 'scandal' i didn't believe it. 'its too good to be true!' i thought. i immediately consulted a reliable news source- perez hilton. he confirmed to us that the story was indeed true. k-stew had even owned up to it. we rejoiced! we squealed! we giggled! we clapped! what an amazing story! together, my friend and i scoured the net for pics, videos and articles relating to this delicious scandal. over the next few weeks i excitedly bought magazines featuring the story and enjoyed the 'water-cooler' chat that followed the scandal.

above: those pictures. below: his 'n' hers outfits should have been a dead giveaway!

but what i have come to realize, is that people fellow r-patz fans are delighted for completely different reasons to myself. this is not about calling a young woman a slut. everybody makes mistakes, and k-stew has surely made a large and very public one. this is not about being excited that rob is single again- hello! he is not running to you(whoever you are!) for a shoulder to cry on. i am simply happy, that this girl, who comes across so cooler-than-thou in interviews has been slapped in the face by her own actions. congrats k-stew, you are just like the rest of us- you're human too. this chick just pisses me off so much with her artsy-hipster-angst-ridden persona, that i am just so glad that she has done something as low as the rest of us. yep, you're a regular hussy now. you're as good as a footballer. you made a very public and completely stupid mistake.
but that's as far as i will go with her. to label her a slut or a home wrecker or a whore is a little unfair. there was a married man involved in all of this. a significantly older married man. if she should've known better then he REALLY should've known better. he has seen very little public backlash. if anything, this publicity will probably help his career. what kind of example is the media setting to young girls here? basically the story screams 'double standard' and instills in us that men who cheat aren't that bad, but women who do should be burnt at the stake. did brad pitts career suffer after he ran off with angie? not that i can recall. and he was married to jen aniston. they were the golden couple of hollywood. instead the focus was on the 'seductress'(jolie) and the poor 'unlucky-in-love-victim'(aniston).
lastly, lets just contemplate the possibility that rob could 'take her back'. the media would react like the world was coming to an end. angry mobs would take to the street. effigies of stewart would be burnt. death threats would be made...ok maybe i'm getting carried away, but you get my point. yet when bill clinton finally confessed to getting a bj from monica lewinsky, hillary was praised for 'standing by her man'.  and lets not forget rihanna and chris brown. brown brutally beat the star, photos of her injuries went public, he was charged...yet he has gone on to acheive amazing musical success. he has millions of adoring fans who would do just about anything to be his girlfriend. how is that ok?!!
basically, i hope that k-stews career suffers. she doesn't deserve to be the highest paid actress in hollywood. i hope this whole thing takes her down a peg or 2. i hope she comes out as a lesbian and runs off with lindsay lohan and ends up in rehab. but i wish all of these things on her not because she is a 'slut'. i wish these things on her because i think she is an annoying dickhead. that is all.

above: the moral of my story in pictures- kristen=annoying. rob=lovely.

The X-Factor USA: Who should host? Who should judge?

So rumours are flying as to the fate of the US XFactor for next season. Steve Jones says he won't be back. Apparently Scherzinger has been sacked(maybe cos Americans are suckers for little girls who cry. I think I was a joke to have someone so young competing in the first place. Also it was hilarious. tv gold.), and its questionable as to whether Paula will be back.

The biggest rumour I've heard is that Simon has offered Beyonce like $500million to do it. Obviously that would be freaking amazing, and it would probably be good timing given she is a new mum and all that, but she is a real, proper superstar. I mean, she only has one name- she doesn't need to do a TV talent show. The same can't be said for her former bandmates. This leads to my solution. I think they should take Kelly. She is more than a little annoying- which is why America would love her. She wouldn't make little girls cry- shes too American, too chirpy, too...annoying! I love both Cheryl and Dannii so either of them could come back to fill her seat on the UK judging panel.
As for who can replace Paula...thats a toughie. She is kinda in a league of her own(thats not necessarily a compliment). They need someone sorta in the same age bracket and similar experience. All I have come up with is either Gloria Estefan or Whitney Houston- both of whom I personally have never seen in that kind of tv role before, but they can't be worse than Paula! If the budget would stretch far enough, I reckon Janet Jackson would be a great choice. She would surely help the ratings, and I imagine she would be constructive and no-nonsense with the right amount of not-making-girls-cry-ness.

Now, who to host? I actually have nothing. I really don't know. I think that's because those kind of hosts are always annoying, whoever they are, so I don't think there is anyone who wouldn't annoy me. But I'm thinking maybe they should buck trend and go with a chick. I think Cat Deely is very very good on 'So You Think You Can Dance?' so maybe her? She's better than Seacrest anyway.
My actual dream panel, if I could choose anyone at all, would be as camp as a row of tents! I am thinking Cher, Bette Midler and Kylie Minogue alongside Simon. Actually, we need someone dreamier than Simon to look at...maybe someone a bit smooth and sophisticated- Chris Isaac or Harry Conick Jnr would do. They would have the Charisma.
While I don't think any of my suggestions will make it to Mr. Cowell, I will be watching him with great interest. I'd love to see all the behind-the-scenes negotiation and drama that goes into these kinds of decisions. I look forward to seeing who he comes up with.

and for all the wrong reasons...

everyones favourite goth forensic scientist Pauley Perrett looked straight out of a 90's grunge band. that said, i kind of like that she is doing her own thing.

Vannessa Hudgens is still out to convince us all that she can be sexy, edgy and do 'boho'. We get it we get it. you aren't just that little girl from High School Musical OK. you are henceforth known as that chick that tries hard to convince us that you aren't that little girl from High School Musical.

Julianne Hough shows everyone that even when you have a ridiculously hot body, a dress can still be unflattering. it adds about 2 sizes to her. while it is very sexy from behind(a very low back), it was inevitable that she couldn't have every picture taken from behind.

Demi Lovato seemed to think she was attending a local beauty pageant. Just No.

How did Ashley Greene not realize that she looks like she make be a pre-op transsexual in this dress? how did nobody tell her. evil.

its the most wonderful time of the year

yes, its awards season. unfortunately its not as amazing as it once was. there just aren't as many risks or mistake on the red carpet these days. everyone has a stylist, so while there are still unflattering dresses, strange colours and the odd OTT accessory, there are no major shockers anymore. this make me sad, because that was the funnest part!

So here we go- the Peoples Choice and Critics Choice awards have been providing teasers of whats to come on the weekend at The Golden Globes. here's the frocks from the Peoples Choice Awards that I think are worth talking about:

I like Kelly Osbourne's choice here. most people don't. but i guess that's why i do. this 'Honor' dress is something that i think I would choose for myself. it have a vintage vibe, its girly, and its not over-the-top-dressy. i think its perfect for the occasion. the sleeves make it look completely different to anything else on the carpet. thumbs up! as for sharon...she should be careful. those boobs are all fun and games until someone looses an eye. scary.

miley cyrus, who is apparently kellys bff(who knew?!) went for a more fashion-forward choice than usual. shes flashing the cleavage a lot more lately, and the sheer panel is a classier way of doing a plunge neckline, so i like it. her dress is really unusual from the side which gave everyone a surprise, cos miley is usually a little bland. I really like this David Koma dress on her. Its nice to see her going away from the whole boho thing she has tried(and failed) to do in the past. the Jimmy Choo stilettos finish off the look- classic stiletto pumps were all over the s/s 12 catwalks, showing a move away from chunky platforms and wedges(noooooooooo! I can't walk without a platform!)

i am such a fan of Cobie Smulders on How I Met Your Mother - she is a brilliant comedy actress. but there is nothing funny about this ensemble! its amazing to see her look a million miles away from Robin Sparkles here on the red carpet. this is how to do sexy yet sophisticated. i feel like its a look thats been done before, but because she works it so well, it really doesn't bother me. Her Reem Acra dress fits perfectly and is such a gorgeous shade, especially paired with those gold accessories. bravo! she looks so hot she could turn Neil Patrick Harris!

Ginnifer Goodwin was one of the few risk takers on the carpet. she completely popped in a hot pink Roksanda Ilincic dress. while i am not mad about the sleeves, without them the dress may have been a little too plain. maybe i am just drawn to this because I am a bit candy-pink obsessed at the moment, but I love the way the colour just jumps out at you, and the 60's vibe of the dress. pictured with Ginnifer is her 'Once Upon a Time' co-star Jennifer Morrison wearing a very busy Oscar De La Renta frock. I don't hate it, its just all a bit much. the hair and shoes have a lot to do with it. i think if her hair was back in a sleek ponytail and the clunky nude shoes were switched with a slinky pair of metallic stiletto's, she may have just looked the business because I actually think the dress is quite lovely, and really suits her figure.

17 days of hunger

would you trust this man?

apparently i thought it was a good idea to trust him. and despite his dodgy appearance, it paid off. yes, Dr Mike Moreno is the creator of the 17 Day Diet. a form of food torture, that does actually work to make one lose weight- and fast. I know this, because I have done it.
despite the name of the diet, it does not last a mere 17 days- it comprises of 4 17 day cycles. each cycle is slightly less torturous than the previous. I've only really done the first 1 properly, the 2nd one half-hearted, and the last 2 not really. I know how to eat a healthy balanced diet, so after i got the healthy eating plan kick-started with the torture cycles, i just went to my own healthy eating plan after.
you see, i am a terribly impatient person who needs to see results almost immediately, or i am not going to stick to any form of eating/exercise regime. that's where the 17 day diet is truly impressive. the first time i did it, i lost 1kg within a couple of days. this motivated me to stick to the diet until the end, which saw me lose about 4.5kg in the end. and despite warnings about fad diets etc, i kept it off, because i eased back into a 'normal' healthy eating pattern by doing phase 2 of the diet and keeping up the exercise.
so why am i back on it again if i managed to keep it off? well, December happened. i completely enjoyed it. i loved every last quality street in the tin, every glass of wine, every crisp, and every lazy-sit-on-my-arse moment of it. but the problem with that is, my clothes managed to shrink over the month. so 17 days of torture it is!

so what am i allowed to eat right now? quite a bit really. I am not allowed quite as much because i am vegetarian, but thankfully substitute products are still pretty tasty.
the basics for phase 1 'accelerate' are:

3 cups of green tea per day(flavoured or plain, as long as there's no sugar)
lots and lots of water
2 servings of low-sugar fruits(from a specific list in the book)
unlimited lean protein
unlimited non-starchy vegetables
2 servings of low-fat probiotics
1-2 small servings of friendly fats(olive oil etc)

caffeine is encouraged, so long as you drink extra water. no sugar-free drinks are allowed, and preferably no artificial sweetener. a small amount of cheese(Parmesan is best) is allowed. oh, and no alcohol. and that's it! if you do it well, it won't really be 17 days of hunger. for me, who is a little lazy with cooking, that is what it turns into. but it really is worth it if you are likely to give up easily if you don't see results.

Happy New Year

i have once again decided that i have too much to say, and thus, will attempt to blog once again. i will try to focus on all things pop(which was my initial plan) and not just on fashion(it distracts me. it often involves sparkly, colourful things).
so what does 2012 mean to me?

well i have the usual eat-healthier-exercise-more-resolution. i also plan to be more ambitious when it comes to my career. i can't sit around with a blog that has about 2 readers that i never write in, occasionally making hats, and being jealous that nobody has magically 'discovered' me. i gotta work for it. stop being lazy. yes. anyway, thats quite enough of that.

speaking of being lazy, theres some 2012 tv that i am hopeful about. playing it straight is particularly exciting. its not a new concept. it is a series that has been made before, in amercia, the uk and australia. the uk are giving it a go again. the painfully-fashionable jameela jamil will host and alan carr plays narrator(which can only be a good thing). basically in a bachelorette-style dating show, one girl will date a bunch of guys and it will end with one winner. the twist is that some of the guys are gay and they are all pretending to be straight. if a gay-posing-as-straight guy makes it til the end, he gets all the prize money. if a straight guy does, he shares with the chick. i hope they don't tell us who is who, cos I really want to play along at home. i reckon i will ACE it. although there is bound to be some full on metro's taking part, which will make it a little tricky.

i also love 'got to dance'. it makes my jaw drop a lot more than any singing show ever could. some of the talent is unbelievable. maybe its because i can sorta sing(not to reality-show-winning-standard, but I can sing more than I can dance) and i haven't got a hope of ever being able to leap through the air or stick my leg behind my head. plus, its so obvious it doesn't even need to be said, but adam garcia is still dreamy.

lastly, i am looking forward to seeing everybodys-favourite-hipster zoey deschanel in the american sitcom 'new girl'. it really has been a while since a really good new american comedy has come along, and this is poised to be that show. deschanel has been nominated for a golden globe for best actress- television series musical or comedy for her role in this series, so fingers crossed it lives up to my high expectations.i am sure i will keep you up-to-date on how these shows pan out. heres hoping they be good!
