Express your Waterfalls
So Lady GaGa's new single has got everyone's knickers in a twist with excitement. Basically this is because a while ago there we were given a small snippet and some lyrics, then there was a crazy remix at a Thierry Mugler fashion show. Oh, and also because she is the biggest thing to happen to Pop music for years and this is the first single from her upcoming 2nd album.
well, heres the verdict of a pop cynic. I love the album artwork- It is the definition of 'fierce' I reckon. If this was a britney/christina/girls aloud single it would be amazing. Well, amazing if it was girls aloud, pretty good indeed if it was either of the former. But Gaga? We have come to expect a certain element of craziness from her. Where is the Ra-Ra-Ra's and the Ooh-La-La's? She hasn't released something this 'normal' since 'Eh Eh (Nothing Else I can say)' or her debut 'Just Dance'. And while she has been accused of maybe being 'overly-influenced' buy other artists in the past (from Madonna to Ace of Base to Roisin Murphy to Gwen Stefani), to me this is the first time I have listened to one of her songs and thought 'I feel like I have heard this before'
I knew straight away it was a Madonna song, then concluded it was 'Express Yourself'. Since coming to this conclusion on my own, I noticed 'Express Yourself' was trending on Twitter, so its pretty safe to say I am not the only one that thought so. Then, I played it for my husband to see what he thought. After saying 'I think you think I care more than I actually do' he then said 'It sounds like that song about waterfalls. We concluded that he meant the song of the same name by 'TLC' and I totally agree the verses do indeed sound Waterfall-esque.
Now the fact that it sounds like these songs doesn't mean its not a fun song. It totally is. I am actually looking forward to heading on down to my local Gay club and having a good ol' fashioned dance to it- I reckon it will be totally anthemic in there. It will be number one, and it will stay there for a while. But, overall, I expect more from such a hyped Pop Star. Gaga needs to show us that she is more than just a meat dress and Crazy heels- she needs to live up to her ginormous status.

Hot in Ireland

So the adverts for the TV series 'Hot in Cleveland'(which I haven't actually watched yet, but the lovely Betty White is in it, so I defo will) got me thinking about something...I think I am hot in Ireland. Well, hotter anyway. I then discussed this with my husband. We agreed that we are both, indeed hotter in Ireland than we are in Australia. Now, i don't mean to sound completely conceited. I am not saying that I believe myself to be incredibly good-looking. I am ok. I am better than ok with the right clothes and makeup. Maybe thats why we are better looking here. The clothes are less revealing and the make-up is heavier because it doesn't sweat off!
The strange thing about this is that I believe I actually look better at home in Aus. I always gain a bit of weight when spending time in Ireland, and I am obviously going to be paler. So who knows? This pointless post is simply my verbal diarrhoea.

all my friends are dickheads too...
This song has been kicking around for a while. not only is it bang-on, its hilarious, and something I needed in my life. a friend and I have started posting looks on lookbook, and were struggling with how to take the pictures cos we feel like total dickheads when posing. Now we try to channel our inner dickhead and embrace it. basically we pull the piss out of these people when posing and end up with cool enough photos. Its great. and we also have a better name than 'hipster' or 'indie' when talking about these people. They are now, simply, dickheads.
